How to Cook the Perfect Cheerio
Nail the perfect cheerios every time! Whether you’re dishing them up for a birthday party, an after-school snack, or a classic Kiwi kids’ treat, we’ve got the best cheerios sausage recipes and cooking tips to help you get it just right—no splitting, no fuss, just tasty Hellers cheerios done to perfection.

Simple Steps
-
Cut the bag across the top and place the cheerios into a large pot
-
Cover the cheerios completely with COLD water
-
Set the temperature to a medium high heat. Allow the pot to gently come up to temperature – you are watching to see a few small bubbles appear. You can place a lid on the pot as this speeds up the process but it also means they are more likely to burst if you don’t keep a close eye on them. Set a timer for every 5 mins so you don’t forget!
-
As soon as you see a few small bubbles appear then remove immediately from the heat and drain them through a colander placed in your kitchen sink
-
Place the drained cheerios back into the warm pot and cover with a lid until you are ready to serve. Alternatively pour the cheerios into a serving bowl.
-
Serve with your favourite condiments – we love good ole tom sauce and American mustard!
This method also works perfectly with our hotdogs, kranskys, saveloys and frankfurters.
