How to Store Bacon

What you will need

  • Resealable bags
  • Containers

Instructions

  1. Raw bacon is best stored removed from the packaging and placed into a labeled and dated plastic container or snap lock bag, once opened it will keep up to 4-5 days in the fridge as long as it isn't right on the expiry date. Raw bacon drying out a little is not a major and will cook up ok regardless.
  2. Precooked bacon like our Bacon Strips are best left in the twin pack containers and can be folded onto each other once opened for easy storage.
  3. All other precooked bacon will keep up to 3-4 days in the fridge as long as it isn't right on the expiry date. Transferring opened precooked bacon to a sealed plastic container is ok just ensure you date it from when you opened it.
  4. If you plan on consuming the bacon within 1-2 days then leaving it in the packet as you do so is perfectly ok. Just fold the packaging over to prevent the remaining bacon from being spoiled.
  5. To freeze place any leftover bacon into snap lock bags and clearly label and date, it will keep up to 3 months in the freezer. You can place all unopened packaged bacon straight into the freezer. To thaw place the bacon in the fridge overnight to allow it to defrost gently to maintain its structural integrity as much as possible.
